THE KEEPER · A QUIET STATION

The Observatory is not the work of an institution. It is kept by one person, slowly, with a long apprenticeship behind it.

The keeper trained at New York University in the tradition of media ecology — the school Neil Postman built, in the shadow of Marshall McLuhan, taught alongside Terence Moran. It is a tradition that treats every tool as an environment, every screen as a room, and every user as a guest to be welcomed rather than a metric to be optimized. The Observatory carries that method whole.

The other half of the practice is yogic. Years of teaching, sitting, and learning inside the Ram Dass / Neem Karoli Baba lineage — a lineage that asks only that a tool make its user kinder, more patient, more here. When the two shoulders meet, an observatory becomes possible: a screen that behaves like a room, and a room that behaves like a practice.

The keeper's public teaching lives at Yogi Medicine, where the body, the breath, and the day-to-day art of remembering are the subject.
